FTP (File transfer protocol), which allows, after a phase oflogin, to list remote directories, copy files and perform simple operations. The connections are used TELNET (port21) for the control connection and a TCP connection forthe DATA TRANSFER (established only during the actual transfer). The commands are issued from the client. At the controls is at least one answer.

The connection is made in the following way, normally:
Conrol CONNECTION, passive open on port 21 by the server
DATA CONNECTION active on port 20 open by the server and in a passive way by the client.

-BLOCK: The files are segmented (have headers) and thismakes possible recovery in case of error
